Fall Programs at the Andrew C. Cook House 

Monday, 20 October, 7 pm: Diana Dretske from the Lake County Discovery Museum will give a Powerpoint presentation on "What's in a Name?" Lake County's rich tapestry of history is woven into the very fibers of its place names. With over 500 place names associated with the county's communities, the presentation delves into the origins of names and the individuals and events that influenced them. Learn how Wauconda really got its name!  $5 at the door

Monday, 3 November, 6-8 pm:   Come out and meet the local researchers/writers on this fabulous Wauconda memory book called “Another Time”.  A memory book filled with over 150 articles and 300 historic pictures of local businesses past and present, plus brief histories of local churches and schools.  $25 per book.  Come out and have a local brew, check out the preview photos and order your book at Main Street Outfitter in Wauconda!

Sunday, 16 November, 2 pm: Laurel Mellien of Headstones & History will present a Powerpoint presentation on "The Art of Civil War Commemoration". The program discusses the origins and symbolic meanings of the icons found on monuments commemorating the war as well as on the headstones of soldiers. $5 at the door.
